Novena 2019: Special Intentions for Nova Phillips
A New Heart for Nova

A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. – Ezekiel 36:26

We are asking Good Shepherd members to pray this novena on behalf of long-time parishioner Nova Phillips. Nova’s heart is failing; she needs a heart
transplant.

    • Nine days of prayer between Ascension (Thursday, May 30) and ending on Pentecost (Sunday, June 9)

    • Booklet includes everything you need to participate in our Novena

Nova is in the Texas Medical Center and recently had surgery to implant an LVAD (left ventricular assisted device). This device will help her heart to pump adequately until she can receive a transplant. The wait time for a transplant is typically one to two years.

**Update (5/31): “More progress - the final chest tube was removed this morning. Huge relief and reduction in pain. Nova’s heart and LVAD are playing well together and her vital signs continue to look good. She spent most of the day in the chair (snoozing), but just hopped (or moved gingerly with nursing assistance!) back in the bed. Still very tired and taking pain killers, but her voice is stronger and she’s eating a little.”**

Please pray for Nova’s successful recovery from the LVAD surgery, and for her strength, peace and comfort as she learns to live well with the LVAD and waits for a transplant.
